TURBO
AQUAEL TURBO FILTER filters are designed for purifying and aerating water in aquariums. Thanks to the use of modern energy-saving motors, as well as high-quality gaskets under the rotor chamber, the power of the pumps has been increased. In addition, Turbo is able to saturate water with oxygen, even at great depths, where filters from other manufacturers are ineffective.
The biggest advantage of the new Turbo is the high quality of filtration. Each filter is equipped with a container suitable for placing any filter media and a fine-pored sponge.
Thanks to the notches, the sponge provides high mechanical and biological filtration performance without requiring too frequent cleaning. Filtration containers are equipped with BIOCERAMAX 600 ceramic filler. This substrate denitrifies the aquarium environment, removing ammonium and nitrites.
An additional advantage is the possibility of vertical connection of containers. After purchasing additional containers, the volume of filter material can be increased and, accordingly, the filter can be used for large aquariums (or densely populated aquariums).
The containers make it possible to use any biological and chemical filter media from the AQUAEL range, such as: BioCeraMAX Pro 600, BioCeraMAX Pro 1200, BioCeraMAX Pro 1600, ZeoMAX PLUS, CarboMAX PLUS, NitroMAX PRO, PhosMAX BASIC and PhosMAX PRO.
The sealed rotor chamber contributes to their high efficiency with relatively low energy consumption. All Turbo filters are equipped with a smooth system for regulating the power of water flow, in the form of an ergonomic regulator installed on the outlet spout of the pump.
All models of internal AQUAEL TURBO FILTER filters are equipped with special shock-absorbing suction cups that suppress possible vibrations transmitted to the glass and additionally muffle the operation of the device.
The larger TURBO FILTER 1000, 1500 and 2000 models are equipped with a ceramic rotor axis, which further contributes to their quiet operation and guarantees durability.
Standard equipment:
- container for bulk fillers volume: 250 ml - for the TURBO FILTER 500 model; 625 ml - for TURBO FILTER 1000, 1500 and 2000 models
- the container is filled with BioCeraMAX Pro 600 biological filler, which is an excellent substrate for nitrifying bacteria
- sponge of appropriate density with special notches to maintain ideal filtration over a long period of time
AQUAEL TURBO FILTER 1000 review
Good day.
I present to your attention a review article on the internal filter AQUAEL TURBO 1000.
In my opinion, the target audience for which this article will be useful are beginner aquarists. Of course, there is a specific goal behind writing any article of this kind, and mine is the boundless desire to inform people who are interested in such a fascinating type of activity as aquarium keeping. The fact is that three years ago I was a “newbie” who literally got lost in a huge number of video reviews and articles and practically could not figure it out and understand what kind of internal filter for my aquarium I really needed. The reason was that this entire diverse “ocean” of reviews was incredibly informative, but not entirely understandable to people who were just “taking their first steps” into the aquarium community due to the abundance of scientific terms and the lack of linking abstract parameters to specific situations, with which the reader will sooner or later encounter.
So, let's move on to the review of the filter itself:
The AQUAEL TURBO 1000 internal filter measures 10.1 x 11.3 x 30.3 (width x depth x height), which takes up about 1/8 of my 120L aquarium. With a similar or even larger volume, it will not embarrass your fish, and they will frolic calmly in their cozy, clean water, without even suspecting that they were taken somewhere from their natural aquatic habitat. The filter is suitable for aquariums with a volume of approximately 150-300 l. and has a pump voltage power of 11.0 W with an efficiency of 1000 l/h excluding filter materials. This means that when using a bio-media container and sponge the flow efficiency will be slightly reduced, however if the filter is handled correctly this will not be a concern.
I am attaching a photo of the filter disassembled with an explanation:
1- filter “head” (pump)
2- container for biofiller
3-ceramic biofiller
4-medium porosity sponge
I’ll tell you about the functions of the filter elements and some features of the filter itself:
Filler container: what to put in it?
The filter comes complete with bioceramics BIOCERAMAX 600, which is needed to colonize bacterial colonies on its porous surface. This way you breed both the fish and the bacteria for them, all without any extra effort. Nitrifying bacteria process substances toxic to fish: ammonia and nitrites. They oxidize them into nitrates, which are much safer for the inhabitants of aquariums, but every living creature strives to live in comfort and safety. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that you can put not only ceramics in the container, but also other types of filler, such as glass ceramics, zeolite, activated carbon, etc. However, without some experience in the field of aquarium keeping, it is better not to take risks and not use others fillers without special need, which once again leads us to the choice of this filter, having already taken care of choosing the right filler. The amount of filtration material can be increased by attaching additional containers.
One of the important elements is the filter sponge. It serves for mechanical purification of water from: food residues, dead parts of plants and fish waste. Unfortunately, fish have fins, and they cannot clean up after themselves, and therefore this element is an important obstacle to turning your aquarium into a muddy swamp. Also, nitrifying bacteria already known to us can colonize on its surface.
I would like to note several positive features of the filter I am reviewing:
The filter has a ceramic rotor axis, which ensures its almost silent operation, that is, if your aquarium is located in the bedroom, it will not interfere with your sleep, so that the next morning, having slept, you will have the strength and determination to turn your aquarium into a real underwater kingdom.
The filter also has a so-called “flag” that regulates the power of water flow. I emphasize that the adjustment of the direction of water outlet in the range of 120° is carried out by turning not the pump itself or the filter elements in one direction or another, but by turning the guide tip. I would like to note: this filter has a water aeration function, which means that:
Firstly, you will not need to spend extra money on a compressor, and secondly, the fish will breathe deeply.
Considering all the characteristics and capabilities of the AQUAEL TURBO 1000 internal filter, we can conclude that the filter I am reviewing fully justifies its price and expectations.
I have been using this filter for a year and a half, and to this day I am satisfied with its performance, build quality and material. With careful use, the filter will serve you and your scaly friends for a very long time. I hope this article was helpful. Thank you for your attention!
