Aquael Turbo internal filters

Internal filters from the Polish company Aquael are very popular in the CIS countries. According to statistics, in the segment of cleaning freshwater aquariums with a volume of about 200 liters, they dominate, leaving behind external and internal models of other manufacturers.

In many ways, this trend is due to the emergence of a family of inexpensive and, at the same time, universal Aquael Turbo Filter devices. Turbo internal filters are made according to a traditional design, including a pump and a filter unit. In addition to a fine sponge, they have a filter block container. The filling of this container depends on the preferences of the aquarist.

The water pressure is regulated by a ring switch, which is located at the inlet to the impeller (old Turbo Filter line), or by a flap at the outlet of the pump (new Turbo Filter NEW models). The impeller of the Turbo 350, 600 models rotates on a steel axis, while the rotor of the Turbo 1100, as well as all devices in the NEW line, has a ceramic axis. Changing the material of the axle ensured the quiet operation of the more powerful internal filters of the Aquael Turbo.

Turbo internal filters are typically used for biological and mechanical cleaning of aquariums up to 300 liters in volume. They are divided into two lines. The earlier Turbo 300, 650 and 1000 filters have a nozzle that rotates 160 degrees to adjust the water flow entering the pump. In addition, the set includes a dividing nozzle for directing the outgoing water flow.

In the original design, the container of these models includes zeocarb filler, a mixture of zeolite and activated carbon. Many aquarists recommend changing it after a couple of months of use due to the loss of its properties.
