ULTRAMAX filters are designed for efficient and high-quality water filtration in medium and large aquariums. This guarantees extremely effective filtration, both mechanical and biological. The cartridges can be filled with almost any filter filler depending on the user’s needs.
The pre-filter built into the lid is a new solution on the market for such devices. The pre-cleaning filter has a volume of about 0.6 liters and is used to capture mechanical suspension of a relatively large size in order to prevent it from entering the filter, thereby protecting the device from premature clogging.

The prefilter allows you to significantly reduce the frequency of disassembling the entire filter and cleaning the filter media installed in it. The pre-filter should be cleaned when there is a noticeable decrease in the performance of the device. To do this, simply rinse the pre-filter sponge in tap water, which only takes a few minutes. You can remove the sponge without disconnecting the canister from the power source or removing it from the cabinet.
The sophisticated design of the filter pump rotor and its chamber, based on more than 30 years of experience of AQUAEL designers, in combination with the ceramic rotor axis, ensures almost silent operation of the device. Thanks to this, the filter can be placed in any room, even the bedroom!

Safety of use is ensured by extremely durable double ball valves equipped with the inlet and outlet openings of the filters. This makes it easy and quick to disconnect the hoses when cleaning the filter, preventing even minor water leaks!
All filters are characterized by very easy starting, for which it is enough to first pull out the special lever located in the lid all the way, and then press it back into place. At the same time, negative pressure is created inside the canister, which causes the filter to self-fill with water from the aquarium.

Review of external filter AQUAEL ULTRAMAX 1500
Just recently, 3 months ago, I decided to purchase an external filter from AQUAEL. The agony of choice was long and grueling. Prices for external filters from different companies vary within such limits that several times I finally and irrevocably tried to refuse to purchase an external filter.
Doubts have crept in about the reliability of external filters as an invention in general. And suddenly, one of the bloggers was using it, and I saw it! Delight from the appearance overtook me instantly. The strict but attractive appearance prevailed, the declared characteristics pleasantly surprised me, and without hesitation, instantly forgetting all the hardships of choosing, I ordered aquael ultramax 1500.
The day came when I ran to the transport company at all costs. And here it is, in my hands, so long-awaited. This is exactly how he appeared before me for the first time.
Upon opening the box, I was even more surprised at how well the filter was packaged. Everything is tight, the filter itself is in film, its additional parts are in a separate box. Huge instructions. The equipment is quite good. The kit included 2 hoses, a separate intake tube and a flute and 4 baskets with three types of fillers: sponges of different porosities, synthetic fibers and ceramic barrels. Everything is assembled very simply and intuitively. The hoses are quite long, I even had to shorten them to fit my length. The plastic elements are very high quality. They stick together tightly. The flute is attached to the glass using my favorite reliable aquael suction cups, which are also included in the kit in sufficient quantities. The size of the filter itself surprised me. It is quite large, but fits perfectly into the cabinet under the aquarium.
The filter head has fairly reliable plastic fasteners. There are 8 such fasteners in total. Some of them hold the main filter basket, while others close the prefilter cover. That is, when cleaning the prefilter there is no need to open all the fasteners. Quite convenient too.
The stated characteristics are excellent. In my model it is 1500 l/hour. For aquariums up to 450 liters. I took 200 liters of stock for my aquarium. The reason for this was not doubt about the declared productivity, but plans for further expansion of the aquarium farm. So the power of the filter is such that my not very small angelfish are washed away by the flow of the flute. My filter operates at 1/3 of its capacity. And how quiet it is despite its productivity is simply delightful. At full power you can't hear it at all. Sometimes I even lean my ear against it to see if it works.
The pressure is adjusted by two levers on the filter cover: at the inlet and at the outlet. They are also fastening elements for the hoses in the filter head. The taps are independent of each other, you can turn off each one individually.
Well, now about the most important thing, which, in fact, is what hooked me most about this filter. Ultramax has a built-in pre-filter in its head. This is brilliant! Every time you clean the aquarium, you no longer need to climb into the filter itself, but just first turn off the water supply lever to the filter, wait three seconds, close the lever to the water outlet from the filter, unplug the filter from the outlet, open the prefilter lid with a few light movements, Rinse the sponge and run the filter again in reverse order. This procedure will help to avoid excess water in the container where the prefilter sponge is located. Thanks to minimal intervention in the main filter basket, the biology inside the filter is not disturbed, which means the balance in the aquarium remains the same! The prefilter sponge collects all the large leaves and other debris that gets sucked into the filter. This innovation brings another advantage to this filter, namely that a sponge is no longer needed on the intake tube inside the aquarium. Thus, there is no turbidity in the aquarium from washing the filter at all, and I have not looked into the main filter basket even once since the filter was launched. The launch itself was also not difficult.
I am very pleased with the purchase of this filter. The aquael company has always inspired my trust. The reliability of their equipment has always amazed me. Never let us down. There are internal and external filters and a heating pad. Everything works at the highest level. The quality of the plastic is always high, the appearance is wonderful.
