As much as three-quarters of our planet is occupied by the world ocean, which is a habitat for countless living creatures. In addition to underwater inhabitants, its resources also feed people. It is the ocean that makes Earth a habitable planet. The processes occurring in it determine the existence of nature.

An international holiday, World Oceans Day, June 8, is called upon to draw attention to the problems of the world’s oceans, raise the level of public awareness about it and its inhabitants, and reveal the inextricable connection of humanity with the underwater world.

This event is especially important for people whose profession is connected with the underwater world: oceanographers, divers, fishermen, sailors and sea captains, ecologists and ichthyologists, workers of aquariums and oceanariums. And therefore, especially for World Oceans Day, we have prepared a mini-review of the largest oceanariums and aquariums in Russia, which will be interesting to visit not only with children.

There are also completely unique exhibits, for example, the skull of a Steller’s cow, a very rare mammal of the sirenian order that was considered extinct until recently. Krasnodar, oceanarium

Photo: Evgenia Malyutina |
vk.com/oceanpark At the end of 2011, the largest oceanarium in the south of the country opened in Krasnodar. Residents and guests of the city, visiting this place, immediately feel like an underwater inhabitant.

Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a mechanical fish-machine, which represents the head of a shark with moving jaws and eyes burning with terrible fire. So the authors of the idea wanted to emphasize that the world in the ocean waters is not safe.

The eerie picture is replaced by a soft interior with slightly dimmed neon lights. Many compare the environment of the Krasnodar aquarium with the landscapes from the movie “Avatar”.

The oceanarium building occupies more than 200 square meters. Here you can see aquariums with marine life and exotic representatives of river underwater fauna.

The most exciting moment when visiting the aquarium is walking through the tunnel with sharks swimming overhead. The aquarium, where visitors are allowed to touch the swimming fish, is very popular among visitors.

Reviews

Of course, many tourists believe that the new aquarium has transformed Sochi even more.

The excursion, demonstrating the unique world of the underwater kingdom, leaves no one indifferent. Guests especially like the idea of a mermaid. And, of course, everyone is amazed by the huge tunnel and unique koi fish. Visitors compare the aquarium with a real fairy tale, which, after reading it once, makes you want to
